During the execution of software tests, qualified reporting and progress tracking is a very important component in order to continuously improve the quality of the software and to be able to meet the defined milestones and especially the launch date.
In reporting, it is important to first create a clear test case structure, which is then interlinked with progress planning in order to identify daily deviations of the actual state against the planned progress. Furthermore, an integrated incident and risk assessment should always be included in the reporting in order to identify all errors and risks to milestone compliance at an early stage.
User acceptance test (UAT)
The user test (UAT) is the customer's acceptance test from the business point of view and is carried out by experienced "key users" from the specialist departments. These highly experienced users are often assisted by Milestone Consultants with the IT-heavy parts of the UAT. This includes, for example, writing UAT test cases and supporting the practical execution of the test cases in the MES system. In addition, we provide assistance with error analysis and the subsequent reporting of the test issues found and also act as an interface between the business department and the “IT world”.
Factory acceptance test (FAT)
The factory acceptance test (FAT) is also called the system test of the MES system and is performed with a company-specific configuration and production-related master data. Together with the manufacturer of the MES software, “factory acceptance” of the software delivery is granted after extensive testing and a final report.
Side acceptance test (SAT)
The side acceptance test (SAT) is the “interface test of a system”. In addition to testing the core system, the aim of the SAT is also to test the interfaces of the connected components. Here, for example, a connected ERP system (usually SAP) or machines that are connected via a process control system (PCS) are verified with comprehensive tests.
